Call for Bids: ACM Multimedia 2012 and 2013The ACM Special Interest Group on Multimedia is inviting for bids for holding its flagship ACM International Conference on Multimedia. It was decided in the SIGMM Business Meeting held during ACM MM 2009, that the conference will adopt a 3-year cycle for conference organization and in order to facilitate that, bids are invited for ACM Multimedia 2012 in Asia and ACM Multimedia 2013 in Europe. The conference will then revert back to one bid call per year norm. The details of the two required bid documents, evaluation procedure and deadlines can be found in this edition of the Records. MM2010: The Multimedia Grand Challenge ContinuesWhat problems do Google, Yahoo!, HP, Radvision, CeWe, Nokia and other companies see driving the future of multimedia? The Multimedia Grand Challenge is a set of problems and issues from these industry leaders, geared to engage the Multimedia research community towards solving relevant, interesting and challenging questions in the multimedia industry's 2-5 year horizon. The Grand Challenge was first presented as part of ACM Multimedia 2009. and it will be presented again in slightly modified form at ACM Multimedia 2010. Researchers are encouraged to submit working systems in response to these challenges to win the grand Challenge competition! |

SIGMM Award for Outstanding Contributions to Multimedia Computing, Communications and ApplicationsThis SIGMM Award for Outstanding Contributions to Multimedia Computing, Communications and Application is presented every year to a researcher who has made significant and lasting contributions to multimedia computing, communication and applications. Outstanding technical contributions through research and practice is recognized. Contributions are considered from academia and industry that focus on major advances in multimedia including multimedia processing, multimedia systems, multimedia network protocols and services, and multimedia applications and interfaces. The rules for nomination are explained in this edition of the Records. Report from ACM Multimedia 2009ACM Multimedia is the premier annual event on multimedia research, technology and art. In 2009, it was held October 19-22, 2009 at the Beijing Hotel in Beijing, China. On behalf of the entire Organizing Committee, General Co-chair Yong Rui provides you with a report from the conference. ACM Multimedia brings newest insights into the possibilities to explore and exploit old and new media. In Beijing, contributors presented papers in oral and poster sessions, attended a brave new topics and two panel discussions, showed their practical results in technical as well as multimedia arts sessions. A highlight of the conference was first Multimedia Grand Challenge. |
