Dear Member of the SIGMM Community,

Welcome to the second year of the ACM SIG Multimedia Records!

In this issue, we present and explain to you three calls for contributions that are highly important for the multimedia community. You can find the call for nominations for the SIGMM Award for Outstanding Contributions to Multimedia Computing, Communications and Applications that will be awarded for the third time this year.

You are also invited to submits bids to two future ACM Multimedia conferences. The process will of course be influenced by the decisions of the ACM Multimedia Conference Review Committee that we introduced in the previous issue, but conditions for the bidding process can be found in this issue.

You should consider answering the Grand Challenges that industry presents to you. It provides an excellent opportunity to understand how your research fits current industrial needs, and for establishing connections and discussions, and not the least, to present your results at ACM Multimedia 2010.

This issue brings you also a report from ACM Multimedia 2010, along with paper references, and links to the latest papers in TOMCCAP and MMSJ, as well as a special issue in IJAMC. And you should not forget to take a look at the summaries that are provided for four finished PhD theses that may interest you.
