All papers should be prepared and submitted according to the following guidelines. This page serves as a general overview; for details on a specific category of papers, please look up the respective "Call for Contributions" pages.

Submission formatting and templates
All papers must be formatted according to ACM proceedings style. Latex and word templates for this format can be downloaded from the following links:

Papers must be submitted as PDF files in Letter size through the online paper submission system. Submissions must strictly adhere to page limits. Papers exceeding the page limits will be rejected without review. The maximum allowed file size for the paper submission is 10 MB.
Complying with double-blind review
Some of the programs in ACM Multimedia use a double-blind review process for paper selection (All others are single-blind). Please follow the guidelines below for submissions to such programs:
In a "Double-blind Review" process, authors should not know the names of the reviewers of their papers, and reviewers should not know the names of the authors. Please prepare your paper in a way that preserves anonymity of the authors.
- Do not put your names under the title.
- Avoid using phrases such as “our previous work” when referring to earlier publications by the authors.
- Remove information that may identify the authors in the acknowledgments (e.g., co-workers and grant IDs).
- Check supplemental material (e.g., titles in the video clips, or supplementary documents) for information that may identify the authors identity.
- Avoid providing links to websites that identify the authors.
Special notes for full and short papers

2. Things to note
- No abstracts pre-submission: There will be no pre-submission of abstracts in order to simplify the submission process.
- Double-blind review process: Papers submitted to this track must conform with a double-blind review process, such that authors should not know the names of the reviewers of their papers, and reviewers should not know the names of the authors. Please prepare your paper in a way that preserves anonymity of the authors.
- Different deadlines and tracks for full and short papers: Different deadlines have been defined for submitting full and short papers. Therefore, different submission tracks have been created for full and short papers per area. In order to avoid confusion that may be caused by offering the authors too many different submission options at once, first the full paper submission tracks will be opened and kept open until the full paper submission deadline of 31 March. Then, on 31 March, the full paper tracks will be closed and the short paper tracks will be opened. In this way, an author will always see 14 submission options.
- Updating the submissions: Before the submission track closes, authors can login into EasyChair, go to the list of their submissions (“My Submissions”), click on “Information” in the table, and then select the “Submit a new version” in the upper right menu and upload new version of the paper. This option closes with the closing of the track.
- Administrative rejects in case of rule violations: In case of paper length, formatting, or anonymity violation, the paper will be rejected administratively. The authors will be informed about this at the earliest convenience.
- Reassigning papers to better-matching tracks: We aim at optimal assignment of the papers across tracks. This may also require overruling the initial track selection of the authors, for instance if Area Chairs believe that the core contribution of the paper belongs to a different track where it can be assessed much more reliably. The authors will be informed if this happens.
- Supplemental material: Authors may optionally upload supplemental material. Only one supplemental file of max. 100 MB is allowed, and can be in one of the following formats:
mp3, mp4, wav, avi, mpg, mov, wmw and zip (the latter also as option for grouping multiple suplemental materials together).
Other guidelines
- No dual submissions: By submitting a manuscript to ACM Multimedia 2014, the authors guarantee that it has not been previously published (or accepted for publication) in substantially similar form.
Furthermore, no paper which contains significant overlap with the contributions of this paper either should be submitted during the ACM Multimedia 2014 review period
to either a journal or a conference. If there are papers that may appear to violate any of
these conditions, then it is the authors’ responsibility to:
- cite these papers (preserving anonymity),
- argue in the body of your paper why your paper is nontrivially different from these concurrent submissions, and
- include anonymized versions of those papers in the supplemental material.
- Supplemental materials: Some programs allow authors to optionally upload supplemental material. Typically, this material might include: 1. videos of results that cannot be included in the main paper, 2. screen recording of the running program anonymized related submissions to other conferences and journals, and 3. appendices or technical reports containing extended proofs and mathematical derivations that are not essential for understanding of the paper. Only one supplemental file is allowed (maximum of 20 MB for most programs). If there is a need to upload more than one file, please concatenate them into a single .ZIP file.
- Important note for the authors: The official publication date is the date the proceedings are made available in the ACM Digital Library. This date may be up to two weeks prior to the first day of the conference. The official publication date affects the deadline for any patent filings related to published work.
