Welcome to the June 2009 issue of the ACM SIG Multimedia Records! Introducing the new Board of ACM SIG MultimediaThe new board of SIG Multimedia has just been announced. In spring 2009, the members of SIGMM were asked to elect the new board of ACM SIG Multimedia. Many SIG members took this opportunity and voted for their favorite candidate, and the result was announced at the end of June 2009. We present the plans that the new board has already formed in its first week after the election, and introduce the members of the new board briefly. |

Introducing the MMSys ConferenceACM Multimedia Systems (MMSys) is the ACM SIG Multimedia's new conference. It's going to be held for the first time in Scottsdale, Arizona, in 2010. In this feature, MMSys co-chair Ketan Mayer-Patel introduces the motivation for creating MMSys as a new venue for members of the "traditional" multimedia systems communities. Report from CIVR 2008The International Conference on Content-based Image and Video Retrieval (CIVR) is a prominent technical conference in its field. It became an ACM SIGMM-sponsored conference in 2008. General chair Jiebo Luo has prepared a report for the readers of SIGMM Records. |
