SIGMM Announces New Award for "SIGMM Test of Time Paper Award"

SIGMM has just received approval from the ACM Awards Committee, for a new award called the SIGMM Test of TIme Paper Award. This will be an annual award recognising the authors of a paper published either 10, 11 or 12 years previously at a SIGMM sponsored or co-sponsored conference, which has had the most impact and influence on the field of multimedia in terms of research, development, product, or ideas.  

The establishment of an award which is recognised by ACM is a very thorough and rigorous process. The proposal was first approved by the SIGMM Executive, then it went for assessment by the ACM office before being submitted for approval by the ACM SIG Governance Board and then finally for approval by the the ACM Awards Committee.

The inaugural award will be presented to a paper published in 2008, 2009 or 2010, at the SIGMM Business Meeting at the MULTIMEDIA Conference in Seattle in October this year.  Further details of the award including the nomination process and the selection committee are available at http://sigmm.org/Awards/testoftime
