EditorialDear Member of the SIGMM Community, Welcome to the September issue of the SIGMM Records in 2011. We announce this year's winner of the SIGMM Award for Outstanding Technical Contributions to Multimedia Computing, Communications and Applications. The award will be presented at the ACM Multimedia Conference 2011. Christian Timmerer has newly joined the SIGMM Records as a columnist who will regularly inform you about the developments in MPEG standardization. Read his report from the 97th MPEG meeting.
